Why does my Blackberry Pearl start a conversation on speakerphone then go to normal after about 5 seconds?

Q. When someone calls me, for about the first 5 seconds of the call it is on speakerphone, then it goes to normal. It was not like this yesterday when I got the phone. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Or what I can do to make sure it only goes to speakerphone when I push the speakerphone button?

A. maby it got damaged you can cheack by going to a cell phone store (depends what server you have) or you might have set it to do that you can also check online

Purchased a new Blackberry Pearl but the battery seems to die fast. Is it normal to have to charge everyday?
Q. I don't use it much, does it just use a lot of power to be on? If I put it in standby mode would that help save battery, and will I still be able to receive text messages and phone calls?
Any information about this phone would be wonderful!

A. The Pearls battery is not the largest. Some things you can do to conserve battery power are:

1. Lower the screen brightness: you can do this by going to Options > Screen/Keyboard. I set mine to 10

2. Don't use vibrate notifications. The vibrate function uses more battery power than tone notifications.

3. Put in standy while not using it.

With normal usage I can typically get a day and a half out of the device. If I take a lot of calls and they are long then maybe a day.

How much is a blackberry pearl without a plan?

If on tmobile you could buy a blackberry with no contract..for around $178.
Or an unlocked blackberry for $200-230.
