Q. Hi, im looking on getting a blackberry curve for christmas, its not on contract- im just going to pay as you go, is BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) a free service and does the internet cost (If i topped up £5), does it take it off the top everytime i use the internet?

And also, when I download apps, it says "25MB free." Is this the amount I am allowed to download before having to rebuy the package?

A. 25MB free indicates how much space yopu have left to store apps on your phone/memory card.

As for the rest of your question .... As you can do it then it's BIS that lets you do it

Is there a easier way to transfer my contacts other than having to write them down? Because i know for same companies, you can transfer contacts at a local t-mobile or verizon phone.

A. From your Bold's browser, go to "http://m.google.com" (take out the default www). Download the application Google Sync. This will allow you to sync not only your contacts, but your messages and your calendar to your gmail account. Once you get your droid - simply put in your gmail on the setup screen and you should see all your information sync to your phone.

How much money does it cost to download the newest blackberry software over a wireless network?

Q. Ive tried to download the blackberry software on my PC but it wont let me because of some antivirus thing or something. So ive just kin dof given up and wondered how much it would cost to download it over the wireless network. DOwnloading it over the wireless network is my only option. Please help :)

How do i download blackberry software to external hard drive?
Q. I want to download the blackberry software (website download) onto my external harddrive so i can upload the software ontop my laptop. I can't download the software to my laptop from the web because i dont have internet avail on my home computer, and i want to use the blackberry desktop software so i can connect my blackberry to my laptop as a modem. help!

A. First plug the external drive into the computer that's going to be used for this. Make sure windows recognizes the drive. It should appear as whatever the next drive letter is. Probably going to be the "E" drive but it could even be "F". Just depends on that computer. So make sure you can see your external drive before continuing.

Then go to the website where the update is. There should be some sort of button to click on the blackberry site that pertains to "update" or "download", something like that. When you click that button you should then get a window asking you if you want to "run" "save" "cancel" this. Click SAVE.

Without knowing what operating system you have, I can't say what you will see next. But if it's Vista or Windows 7, at this point you will be on a window for saving the file you have selected to save. Look on the left and click on "computer" so that you can expand computer and be able to see all of the drives. Once you see the external drive of yours, just click on it and then select save.

When I try to install my Blackberry Software on my laptop it say invalid H drive, what is the H drive?
Q. When I tried to install it for the first time I had to use an external drive because the drive on my laptop will not work. It said I had an invalid H drive. So I went to Blackberry's website and downloaded it. I installed it again and it also said invalid H drive. I can't figure out what the problem it, please help!

A. Drive H just means one of your slots in your computer .Like for your USB or any connection to your computer.
Did you check if it was fully inserted?

Where can I find affordable blackberry accessories?

Q. I have a blackberry pearl and am trying to locate where I can purchase affordable quality accessories like the micro sd and phone chargers. Last time I ordered off amazon.com for my old phone I paid about .99 for a car charger and should have realized it was too good to be true. I actually ended up taking the port plug-in part apart and saw it was put together with plastic not having any kind of metal or wiring inside to carry the plug in charge.

the 8320 and 8310 are exactly the same but there are slight difference with the 8330, i wish i could say i knew what they were but i know what all blackberry curve cases are designed differently. they're always sold for the 8310&8320 and then the same case is only for the 8830

Will the accessories for the Blackberry Storm 2 fit the Blackberry Storm 1?
Q. I just bought a first generation Blackberry Storm and I want to buy a silicone case for it so it won't get scratched up. However, all I can find is the silicone cases for the Storm 2. The guy at the verizon store said that it wouldn't fit, but i wasn't sure if he was honest about it or not. Any help?

A. Blackberry 9530 is a CDMA device that can work with GSM if it's unlocked.

WIFI is not an option with that device. NOT SUPPORTED.
To get the service books you can call your carrier and ask them to send it to you or just try to update the host routing table form your unlocked blackberry (under options).

The unlock code for your Blackberry is unique and you just need to use a Blackberry unlocking service or to contact the original carrier and ask for the unlock code.
You can also take it to a store and get it unlocked but the online option is the cheap one so save your money..

How do i get my Blackberry storm 2 to send and receive pictures?

A. You can do that using BBM to other BB devices, if you want to send it to other phones, you caan do that using Bleutooth, pair First with the phone, then send the files. to receive, first go to media, and then Receive Via Bleutooth. then you will be able to receive Files using Bleutooth

How long it usually takes to register Blackberry Internet Service ?

Q. I just bought a BB and they told me my BIS would be registered and ready to use after 2 hours or the latest 4 hours . But it has been nearly 9 hours , and i haven't received any call or sms alert which they told me i would if it is successfully register . Any comment ?

A. It's taking too long.

Try registering again

Press the Menu key and select Register Now

If you don't receive a message within a few minutes try a battery pull

A. T Mobile has had many problems with their [phones and network since they found out that they are merging with ATT. I know first hand. Since they know that this merger will go through T Mobile just stop caring. Their goal is to sell as many phones as possible to lock you into a contract.
T Mobile has spent millions in legal fees because their employees continue to give out their customer's ssn and pass code. I have the case number for this. I hope that this helps as a great deal of research has gone into this.

The only things that were not very impressive to me were the keypad, which was very small, and I made lots of mistakes on it, and the fact that when it slides out, it is really tall, and since the touchscreen part is very heavy, it tends to want to fall forwards, making it harder to type on the keypad. But other than that, the function is great, it's really speedy, lots of fun, and you can type in landscape on the touch screen or t9, or change t9 to a smaller complete screenpad. I think it's great, but if you need the keypad for business all the time, I must say I wouldn't suggest it.

A. The easiest way to do this is using the Blackberry Desktop Software.

1-Connect your Blackberry to your computer using your USB cable
2-Open the Blackberry Desktop Software on your computer (Double click it)
3-Wait till the Desktop software detects your blackberry
4-Click on "Device"
5-Click "Switch Devices"
6-Follow the Instructions.

The Blackberry Desktop software will first back up all of the files in your blackberry, then once this is done, it will ask you to disconnect your Blackberry and connect the new device (Your father's blackberry). It will transfer all of your data and files to your new device.

I remember in the past I didn't know this how to do this and I used to spend a looooooooooong time transferring all of the info from my old phone to my new one. It Sucked!

How do you transfer contacts from a Blackberry Bold to a Samsung Galaxy S?

Q. I'd want to transfer phone contacts without using the sim card, bluetooth or manually copying. Is there any way to do this using software or sync? Step-by-step procedures would be appreciated. Thanks!

A. There is really no other way besides manually entering your contacts into the new phone or going to a mobile store and having them use their machine.
You can always go to Best Buy and have them use their genie(the transfer device) to put your contacts on the Galaxy S. I work with Best Buy Mobile and know if you come to us while we aren't busy we will more than likely be glad to help you out! =]

Is there a app for blackberry bold 9700 to play farmville and fishvile ?

Q. I have a new bb 9700 and I love facebook games but can't find a app to play the games. I have facebook on my phone but can only look at the post and post. Please help. Thanks to all answers in advance.

I love blackberry though and iphone too. iphones are also prone to shattering while blackberries don't. On the blackberry you can have a corporate email account and the iphone only has one POP account. 2. If your blackberry device does not work at all, and you can access the memory card, remove it, and attempt to access it from an adapter, or PC.

3. If your blackberry device does not work at all, and did not use a memory card. You have become attached to another surface via an incline plane wrapped helically around a calendar.

How do you update your BlackBerry software?

Q. I bought my BlackBerry Curve two months ago, it is the new one, and I wondered how do I get to download/install any available updates for it.

A. Install BB Desktop Manager on your computer. Get it here:

Attach your phone via USB cable and open BBDM. Any updates should listed. If they aren't a Click on The Application Loader icon.

A. Yes, but you need to make sure the version of the Blackberry desktop manager has Roxio Media Manager on it to make life easy. Here's a link to a tutorial on how to use the Media Manager. The pics may look slightly different depending on the version you have but it is the same process. Got to Blackberry's website for more help as well.

How common are Blackberry software problems?
Q. As of Thursday my Blackberry started having software problems. Basically my screen turns white and it will not do anything. I called Sprint and they told me that this is a "fatal software error" and they are going to be sending me a replacement phone. How common are these errors and are there any ways to prevent these errors?

A. Software problems are not all that common, but working in the wireless industry I see them alot.

The best ways to avoid having to get replacements is to regularly back up your device using the Blackberry Desktop Manager. If you start having issues, you can just do a restore to your latest back up.

The "fatal software error", or "white screen of death" usually happens when your phone is plugged into the computer, and it is unplugged/disconnected before the computer is ready. The desktop manager will always give a warning saying "don't unplug your device". There are other causes for that, but most have to do with a defective device or a defective version of handheld softare.

Regular software problems can easily be fixed by reinstalling the latest handheld software on the phone. Sprint should be able to walk you through it, but it is pretty basic if you have the desktop manager and download the handheld software from blackberry.com.

Q. I just bought a BB and they told me my BIS would be registered and ready to use after 2 hours or the latest 4 hours . But it has been nearly 9 hours , and i haven't received any call or sms alert which they told me i would if it is successfully register . Any comment ?

A. T Mobile has had many problems with their [phones and network since they found out that they are merging with ATT. I know first hand. Since they know that this merger will go through T Mobile just stop caring. Their goal is to sell as many phones as possible to lock you into a contract.
T Mobile has spent millions in legal fees because their employees continue to give out their customer's ssn and pass code. I have the case number for this. I hope that this helps as a great deal of research has gone into this.

What month will the BlackBerry Thunder be released?

A. I was reading about that as well, but don't have any other solid information other than it is supposed to be a full touch screen device. That's all I really know at this point. It will probably come with the newest 4.6 operating system (like the soon-to-be released BlackBerry Bold). It will also probably (just my guess) have a lot of the same hardware specifications of the Bold (like processor speed, memory, etc).

I am having problems with my 4th one, and I am fed up and don't want a new curve. I want the new storm with the new system, but I don't want to pay for the full price. Is there any way I get the 2yr contract price, even though I just started a new contract a few months ago?

A. You can always make deals with carriers and Verizon is no exception. Just go into the negotiation knowing that is what you want. I can't imagine Verizon not wanting you to sign on for 2 years, that's what every carrier wants, but you may have to pay a cancellation fee on the phone. But everything is negotiable. Carriers take hit on the handsets, even when they are not free. They have to subzidize them by having customers sign on for long periods and putting in the cancellation fee. Ask if you could sign a 3 year contract if you can get out of your original one. That might do it. Be creative. You could try this site for more information.

A. From your Bold's browser, go to "http://m.google.com" (take out the default www). Download the application Google Sync. This will allow you to sync not only your contacts, but your messages and your calendar to your gmail account. Once you get your droid - simply put in your gmail on the setup screen and you should see all your information sync to your phone.

A. There is no way you can have an exact replica of the Blackberry 9700 user interface on your Blackberry 8330.

What you can first do is upgrade the operating system on your 8330 and see if you are satisfied with the interface. If you would like to take an extra plunge into beta operating systems which tend to yield better performance and occasionally some extra goodies please feel free to do so at your own discretion but you may want to review your contract with Boost Mobile just in case. And if you would like to take an even deeper plunge go for hybrids that are created by putting different aspects of different operating systems build by 3rd party developers. Go to crackberry.com for more information on betas and hybrids along with other goodies for your blackberry.

Another option is to download a theme for your Blackberry from an app store or through an over-the-air download link.

My BlackBerry won't connect to the internet, receive emails and BlackBerry Messenger does not work?

Q. I recently changed the sim card of my BlackBerry 8520 from an 02 sim to a giffgaff one. Since then, the phone has been unable to connect to the internet or use any data. The phone is also permanently stuck on 'gprs' mode and will not connect to a 3g network. I am also unable to log in to my BlackBerry ID. I would appreciate opinions on this matter, thank you!

A. Things to do (in my opinion):
1. Try to put the Oâ SIM card back in your BlackBerry device and check whether it's now able to connect to the internet and you are able to use all the BlackBerry service (BBM, Log in to BlackBerry ID, etc) like before » Please make sure that both your Oâ and GiffGaff are registered to the BlackBerry Internet Service.

If the problem persists...

2. Try to contact the GiffGaff provider's Customer Service and ask them for help.

If the problem stay still...

3. Try to check whether your BlackBerry device is locked by a provider or not. You can ask about this to the place where you bought your BlackBerry device.
(A locked-by-a-single-provider BlackBerry device usually sold as one in a bundling -BlackBerry handset with a SIM card already- and sometimes there's a provider brand logo stamped on the BlackBerry device)

If the problem still persist (again)...

4. Try to check whether your BlackBerry device got an error/bug(s) in its device software.
For this one, you need to check your BlackBerry device software version by typing: "myver" (without the quotation mark) anywhere on your BlackBerry device, then check on the internet, what's the latest version of the BlackBerry 8520 device software. If your device software is not up to date, you may need to upgrade your BlackBerry device software (newer device software usually contains a lot of bug and error fixes, etc).

What Blackberry Device manager is the right one to download for my blackberry storm?

Q. There is like 20 different ones some have media support some have multilingual support which one is the best for someone who wants to use just to manage it? I am just a consumer not bussiness enterprise please if you know can you tell me?

A. I wouldn't download the one with the media manager. It's Roxio and it locks my computer up everytime. It's so slow anyway. So if you want to sync music, use windows media player like you would with an mp3 player. But back to the Device Manager. I recommend 4.7, English, no media support. Link here:

Meanwhile, T-Mobile is GSM Which will work internationally but your bill will go up lol. I suggest you just use a telephone/landline and use phone cards with it. OR you can buy a cheap prepaid T-Mobile phone, but your minutes' rates will be higher.
